Harbor Seals
Classroom 1 is a primary elementary classroom, comprised of the youngest students at Overlake Specialty School. Our classroom offers a community with positive behavioral supports as well as academics. Students participate in Math, Reading, and Writing, all of which are tailored to the individual students' abilities and needs. Academics are tracked through benchmarks and teacher-created and curriculum-based assessments. Throughout the year we also cover topics in Science, Social Studies, Social Skills, and Art. There are several opportunities in our school day for students to strengthen their skills working in a group, problem solving, coping, reflecting, and self-managing. Our goal is for students to gain skills so they can be positive members of their classroom community, recognize their own strengths, and continue to develop their competency.
